Headquarters Staff and 10th Medical Regiment Receive Unit Citation

On December 10, 2005, approximately 100 members of the
Maryland State Guard Association (MDSGA) and the Maryland Defense Force (MDDF)
gathered at the U.S. Army's Fort Meade Golf Club for the annual Holiday Ball
and awards ceremony.
During the evening, the MDSGA presented the Command and G Staff, and members
of the 10th Medical Regiment of the MDDF with
their Distinguished Unit Citation for staff support and field operations during
the Hurricane Katrina relief effort in Jefferson Parish, Louisiana known as
Operation Lifeline. The award consists of a framed certificate,
flag streamer and Unit Citation ribbon for wear on the uniform.
Speakers for the evening included COL (MD) Jack McNiff, President MDSGA,
COL (MD) Courtney B. Wilson, MDDF Chief of Staff, COL (MD) Robert Barish,
COL (MD) Wayne Nelson, Commander and Deputy Commander MDDF 10th
Medical Regiment, and LTC (MD) Thomas Beach, MDDF Field Commander for
Operation Lifeline.
Select members of the MDSGA and MDDF also received the MDSGA Militia Medal
for their leadership in the Association and during Operation
Lifeline.
