MDDF MISSION STATEMENT

SUPPORT THE MDARNG 

Support the Maryland Army National Guard, within the MDDF's capabilities and resources, as directed by the Governor and / or the Adjutant General, by providing trained and experienced volunteers to assist the MDARNG with the following missions: 

Provide for continued operation of MDARNG facilities vacated during mobilization or extended training. 

Assist MDARNG families and dependents of state military personnel called to active duty. 

Provide administrative and medical support to units deploying for Federal service. 

Provide administrative and logistic support to MDARNG At-Risk Youth Programs. 

Augment MDARNG units to answer phones; maintain personnel, equipment, and mission status boards; and perform other administrative duties during declared states of emergency. 

Operate and manage the post exchange at the Camp Frettered MDARNG training facility. 

Perform ceremonial functions such as color guards, funeral details, and honor guards. 

COMMUNITY SERVICE 

Provide local communities and county or municipal governments with a trained, organized, and disciplined force to
assist them in performing the following function: 

Visitor assistance and guidance during community festivals and other civic events. 

Provide personnel to augment local EOC and communications centers during emergencies. 

EMERGENCY RESPONSE 

Provide trained volunteers and units to support state and county police, fire and rescue, and emergency medical services during local and statewide emergencies by performing the following missions in coordination with other agencies such as the MDARNG, MEMA, Maryland State Police, Department of Natural Resources, Civil Air Patrol, etc.: 

Perform damage assessment surveys (Red Cross-qualified survey personnel). 

Conduct ground search and rescue (SAR) operations (qualified SAR teams). 

Provide, medical, administrative, and logistic support at emergency shelters and processing centers. 

Deliver meals, medications, and other emergency supplies to shut-ins and stranded individuals during weather emergencies. 

Assist state and local authorities during evacuations.
